Calendar of Programs
January 13 to March 30 Recording Nature Tour Winter sometimes brings us inside away from nature but these two winter exhibitions remind us of the world outside our window. Vanderhoof artist, Annerose Georgeson`s exhibition is called Field Notes and it focuses on everyday views of her local forest landscape. Travelling through her exhibition is like going for a walk in the woods. Rodney Konopaki and Rhonda Neufeld also spend time walking, observing, and recording the world around them. These two artists work collaboratively on their mixed media art and the results of three years of teamwork are included in their exhibition, Chance Operations. Play cooperative games and then up in the studio create your own mixed media drawings with a partner.
April 13 - June 24 Express Yourself Tour Two Rivers Gallery is proud to share its annual juried exhibition First. First includes a variety of art made by First Nations artists across BC. The paintings, sculpture and jewellery will expose students to a group of artists representing their cultural identity and expressing their individuality. Together, we will share the stories communicated through the art and develop a greater awareness of contemporary First Nations art. Paired with the juried exhibition is a collection of expressive paintings by Powell River artist Rick Cepella. Cepella's energetic landscapes are alive with layers of colour, shapes and line and will engage the students' senses. Through our imaginations, we will travel into Cepella's world and create our own layers landscape puzzles in the exhibition space. Then up in the studio, students will create their own large scale mixed media landscape paintings inspired by the art in the exhibition.
Piggy Back Program: Visit the Two Rivers Gallery and the PG Public Library, Bob Harkins Branch, in the same trip. This is a great idea for a day's worth of activities and can provide the opportunity for 2 classes to share transportation. Enquire about lunch arrangements.
