The adult studio programs at Two Rivers Gallery are designed to involve you in the creative process, challenging you to explore materials and ideas, while teaching you new techniques. Exercise your mind and imagination while expressing yourself through painting or drawing. Perhaps you will discover a new passion or revive an old one.
Adult studio programs vary in length and duration and are appropriate for ages 16 and up. Please refer to course descriptions for details of what you will learn and for information regarding materials. Two Rivers Gallery Members receive a 10% discount on all classes and workshops. HST is charged on all programs.
Please Note: Art class instructors open the Gallery specifically for classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. For security reasons the doors will only be open for the 15 minutes before the class start time. Please be on time.
Refund policy: Payment is required to hold a spot in each class. If you cancel more than 48 hours prior to the start of first class, you receive a full refund. Cancellations after this time are subject to a $20 administration fee and the cost of any classes taken and materials used. We will not issue refunds after the second class.
Workshops
Artists' Critique Feeling a little isolated? Always working on your won and dying for some constructive feedback? We are planning three fall critique sessions each with a different facilitator. Bring in a recent work of art to present and learn from discussions about your work and that of your fellow artists. By donation. Registration is required. Drawing into Paint Saturday, December 3, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm Facilitator: Cat Sivertsen Where does painting start and drawing end? Spend the morning experimenting with mark making using ink and acrylic paint. Then use your morning's experiences to work up a finished painting based on a still life. Landscape Painting Workshop Saturday, March 17, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm Facilitator: Annerose Georgeson Join exhibiting artist Annerose Georgeson for a one day workshop in landscape painting. Bring in landscape photographs for your inspiration and work from the painted ground up, drawing with acrylics on canvas. With emphasis on mark making and colour matching, Annerose will help you capture in paint an approximation of an actual landscape or the feeling of a particular landscape. Printmaking Mondays: January 30 to March 5 6 sessions, 10:00 -12:00 am Facilitator: Frances Anderson Artist and Educator Frances Anderson will demonstrate a variety of printmaking techniques. Serious artists will enjoy having access to a printmaking press to achieve professional results when creating prints and beginners will enjoy learning a variety of techniques for making original prints to frame or send as greeting cards. Learn how to mat and frame your own work and take home all the equipment you need to continue printmaking on your own. Chinese Brush Painting Tuesdays: January 31 to March 6 6 sessions, 10:00 -11:30 am Facilitator: Coral Chen Learn about the ancient art of Chinese Brush Painting with Coral Chen. Coral will introduce you to the materials and guide you as you learn about water control and develop the characteristic strokes of Chinese brushwork. Artist and New Media Educator Kim Stewart will introduce you to traditional art-making media and their virtual counterparts.
