Each spring Two Rivers Gallery designs a program to take on the road, introducing new media to students in Kindergarten to grade 7 in rural communities throughout our region.
Each class is sent out a pre-visit kit complete with a lesson plan, art materials and a book. The classroom teacher reads the book to the students and follows up with an art activity in response to the book. In May and June our Regional Programming Coordinators travel to the schools and facilitate a 90 minute lesson with each class.
Through this program, funded by the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, Two Rivers Gallery works with over 1050 students in 49 classrooms at Blackburn, Buckhorn, Giscome, Hixon, Morfee, Nukko Lake and Valemount Elementary schools as well as McBride Centennial school, exposing them to a wonderful creative experience.
